Staff working on the Ghost In The Shell: Arise anime have announced details of the project. The anime release will consist of four 50-minute episodes, which will be released in Japanese cinemas. The first part, Ghost Pain, will run for two weeks from the 22 June, ahead of its Blu-ray and DVD release on 26 July. The series is a prequel to the original, featuring a younger Motoko.
The show’s cast was also announced, and Maaya Sakamoto will be reprising the role of Motoko Kusanagi. Alongside her will be Kenichirou Matsuda as Batou, Tarusuke Shingaki as Togusa, Tomoyuki Dan as Ishikawa, Takurou Nakakuni as Saito, Youji Ueda as Paz, Kazuya Nakai as Borma and Ikkyuu Juku as Daisuke Aramaki.
