A-1 Pictures’ anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day will be released in Japan this summer
Masuo Ueda, the president and CEO of A-1 Pictures (Black Butler) anime studio, revealed during an Anime Expo panel that the studio is working on an original robot anime that it hopes will replace the ever-popular Gundam. The anime project will be 3D-animated,but details are otherwise scarce; Ueda did, however, preview a selection of clips from A-1 Pictures’ future releases.
The studio’s current and future projects include: Oreimo 2, Servant × Service, Silver Spoon, the film adaptation of anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, this October’s Galilei Donna – Storia di tre sorelle a caccia di un mistero TV anime, and THE IDOLM@STER MOVIE: Kagayaki no Mukōgawa e (The Idolm@ster Movie: To the Glittering Other Side)./p>
The official website of the upcoming original anime project, Vividred Operation, has released the first promotional video of the girl science-fiction action series.
The anime follows a 14-year-old girl, Akane Isshiki, who lives with her little sister and grandfather; along with other 14-year-old girls, she fights to protect Earth and all that is precious to her.
Kazuhiro Takamura (Strike Witches) will be directing and providing the character design for the series, and Hiroyuki Yoshino (Macross Frontier, Guilty Crown) will be responsible for the scripts of the A-1 Pictures production.
The official website for the Magi – The Labyrinth of Magic anime has uploaded the first TV advert for the series, which has been running on Japanese TV. The video showcases the three main characters: the treasure-seeking Ali Baba, the former slave girl Morgiana, and the protagonist Aladdin.
The series is based on the manga by Shinobu Ohtaka (Sumomomo Momomo), which re-imagined the classic tale of Arabian Nights. Koji Masunari (Read or Die, Welcome to the Space Show) will be directing the series at A-1 Pictures. Toshifumi Akai (Kokoro Connect, Sound of the Sky) is doing the character design and Hiroyuki Yoshino (Accel World, Guilty Crown, My-HiME) is handling the scripts for this high profile fantasy series.
Magi – The Labyrinth of Magic will premiere on 7 October and run every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. on MBS and TBS in Japan.
Manga Entertainment has today released the first volume of Blue Exorcist in the UK.This release has subtitles only and a dubbed version will not be available until late 2013, so fans will just have to tide themselves over with the sub edition till then.
A supernatural series, Blue Exorcist tells the story of a boy called Rin Okumura, who discovers he is the son of Satan. Fighting his fate, he joins the True Cross Academy to become an exorcist and defeat demons rather than ally with them. The series was directed by Tensai Okamura (Darker Than Black) and animated by A-1 Pictures (Black Butler).
