The animation studio Sunrise (Gundam) has released a new promotional video of its new mecha anime series Valvrave the Liberator. The video features the anime’s first end theme song “Boku Janai” (It’s Not Me), performed by the duo Angela (Asura Cryin’, K). The anime will premiere in Japan on 11 April.
Familiar territory for Gundam creator Sunrise, the story is set the year Shinreki (“True Calendar”) 71, where 70 per cent of the human population have migrated into space due to the development of space cities. Two major powers now survive — the Dorushia Military Pact Federation and the Atlantic Ring United States (ARUS) — but between them lies a small neutral colony called Jioru. Haruto (Ryota Ohsaka) is a high school student who lives in Jioru; when the Dorushia army invades Jioru, he discovers the mysterious, forbidden humanoid weapon Valvrave.
Kou Matsuo (Rozen Maiden) is directing the series, Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass) is handling the series composition and manga creator Katsura Hoshino (D.Gray-man) is doing the character design.
