The official website for the anime adaptation of Ark Performance’s sci-fi naval manga Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio (Arpeggio of Blue Steel) has released a new promotional video for the anime. The trailer reveals the series’ opening theme song “Savior of Song” by Nano featuring My First Story. The anime is set to premiere in Japan in October.
In the story, much of the Earth’s landmass has been lost due to global warming and the rising sea levels of the 21st century. At the same time, fleets of powerful sentient ships of unknown origins known as the “Fleet of Fog”, armed with advanced technology and weapons, mysteriously appeared and obliterated the world’s naval forces. Humanity then imposed a worldwide naval and aerial blockade, preventing anyone from travelling across the seas. 17 years after the blockade, Gunzo Chihaya and his crew, the Blue Steel fleet, commandeer a “Fleet of Fog” submarine. These alien machines each have their own Mental Models (physical incarnations in humanoid form); Chihaya’s ship is the I-401, and it’s Mental Model is called Iona. The Blue Steel fleet is charged with transporting plans for a powerful weapon against the “Fleet of Fog” to the US, but a lot stand in their way.
