Discotek Media, the North American video distributor, has announced that it will be licensing the anime series GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) and the recently aired short series Thermae Romae; both releases have been slated for 2013.
GTO is a comedy series about Eikichi Onizuka, an ex-gang leader and biker, who has abandoned is past to become the greatest teacher. He attains a job at a prestigious private school and is left to handle the school’s problem class, after the last few teachers quit. The anime is inspired by Tohru Fujisawa’s GTO manga series.
Thermae Romae follows Lucius, a Roman bathhouse architect from the ancient era. After he loses his job, Lucius goes to a bathhouse to relax only to find himself transported to modern-day Japan. The series is based on Mari Yamazaki’s Thermae Romae manga, and the flash-animated three-episode anime was aired on Fuji TV’s late-night block in January.
Discotek has also revealed it will be releasing Lupin the 3rd: Mystery of Mamo and Mad Bull 34 on 26 February 2013.
