Anohana character designer Masayoshi Tanaka Does Live Drawing

The drawing tablet makers Wacom has released a new video in its “Drawing with Wacom” series, featuring the animator, illustrator and character designer Masayoshi Tanaka. In the video, Tanaka is using the Cintiq 24HD touch tablet.

Tanaka has worked on multiple anime series: he was the character designer for shows such as Anohana, Waiting in the Summer, Toradora! and Highschool of the Dead; a key animator on Eureka Seven, Bleach, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Naruto Shippunden and Mushi-Shi; and he is currently working as an illustrator for Raku Kusanagi’s Dead End Rhapsody light novel series.

New Attack on Titan Trailer Released

The anime production company Pony Canyon has released a new trailer for the Attack on Titan anime. The series is set to premiere on 6 April.

The original, award-winning manga (written by Hajime Isayama) is set in a world where giants named Titans roam the world outside of walled enclaves that humans live in; the Titans are devoid of humanity and seek only to devour humans. In the anime, Yuuki Kaji voices Eren, a boy who dreams of the world outside the walls and enlists in the training corps to fight the Titans; Yui Ishikawa plays Mikasa, a girl who was rescued by Eren when they were younger; and Marina Inoue plays Armin, a friend of Eren and Mikasa, who teaches Eren of the outside world.

Tetsuro Araki (Death NoteHighschool of the DeadGuilty Crown) is directing the series at Wit Studio (in cooperation with Production I.G), Yasuko Kobayashi (Shakugan no ShanaClaymoreJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) is the head writer and Kyoji Asano (Psycho-PassTokyo Marble Chocolate) is the character designer.

First Preview of Attack on Titan Anime Adaptation

An initial preview of the anime adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan award-winning manga has been released. The anime is set to be released in spring 2013.

Tetsuro Araki (Death Note, Highschool of the Dead, Guilty Crown) is directing the series at Wit Studio (in cooperation with Production I.G), Yasuko Kobayashi (Shakugan no Shana, Claymore, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) is the head writer and Kyoji Asano (Psycho-Pass, Tokyo Marble Chocolate) is the character designer.

Yen Press Adds Two New Madoka Magica and K-ON! Manga

At a New York Comic Con 2012 panel, the North American manga publisher Yen Press announced  that it had acquired new titles for some of the most popular manga series’ available. Two of the licensed titles are spin-offs of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica series, Puella Magi Oriko Magica (by Kuroe Mura) and Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice (by Masaki Hiramatsu and Takashi Tensugi). 

 Also included are K-On! Highschool and K-On! College (by Kakifly).

Yen Press will also be publishing the bishonen manga Are You Alice?, a Soul Eater art book and volumes 5 to 7 of Highschool of the Dead in a colour omnibus edition.

The North American publishers have also revealed that they will be collaborating with Square Enix to produce digital English-language editions of Black ButlerSoul Eater and Pandora Hearts; these digital titles will be available worldwide from Winter 2012.
