Professor Layton Retires: His Last Game Will Be Released on 3DS in 2013

Level-5 gaming developers have announced that they will be releasing a new Professor Layton game for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013. The CEO of Level-5, Akihiro Hino, also announced that the game would be Professor Layton’s “final and greatest adventure.”

The upcoming game, Professor Layton and the Legacy of Super Civilisation A, is set one year after the events of the previous game, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. The game begins with Professor Layton receiving a mysterious letter, the letter is from a snowbound town where someone has discovered a girl preserved in ice. A great adventure consequently unravels, taking Layton and his allies around the world in the airship Bostonias, as they solve the mystery of an ancient civilisation.

New Trailer for Studio Ghibli Animated Game “Ni no Kuni”

The trailer that was originally given an early showing at Germany’s GamesCon trade show is now available to watch online. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch has been co-developed by Level-5 and Studio Ghibli. This is the first videogame developed by Studio Ghibli and the trailer shows the influence of the great characterisation and story that Ghibli are famed for.

Ni no Kuni is a tale about a young boy named Oliver, who embarks on a journey into a parallel world to become a wizard in an attempt to bring his mother back from the dead. Along the way, he meets new friends and tames many creatures in this other world; these creatures help him to battle formidable enemies.

This RPG will be available on PS3 and will include both English and Japanese voice tracks. Standard and special “Wizard” editions of the game will be available in the UK on the 25 January 2013.
