Five Light Novel Series Get Anime Adaptations

The official Twitter account for the Comic Alive editorial team announced that anime adaptations for five of the MG Bunko J light novel titles have been green-lit. These titles are Magical Warfare, Dragonar Academy, Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance, Madan no O to Vanadis and No Game, No Life. The announcement was first made at Media Factory’s Summer School Festival 2013 event.

Magical Warfare is a magic action story about Takeshi Nanase, ordinary high school boy who has a somewhat dark past, who stumbles across a girl named Mui Aiba. Mui tells Takeshi that she is a magician and she apologies because she’s turned him into one too. Takeshi soon releases that there are actually two worlds – the world where magicians live and the world where humans live.

Dragonar Academy follows Ash Blake, a first-year student at Ansarivan Dragonar Academy, who is known by his classmates as the “number one problem child.” Ash has an unusually large star-shaped brand that marks him as a future dragon master, but his dragon has yet to appear. When it does appear, Ash’s dragon is unlike any dragon seen before – it’s in the form of a young girl – and also has a lot of attitude as she informs Ash that she is the master, and he’s the servant.

Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance (Spirit Elementalist’s Blade Dance) is set in a world where the daughters of nobility are sent to Areishia Spirit Academy to learn how to become spirit elementalists, and make contracts with spirits. However, a boy named Kamito happens to be peeping on a student named Claire, and accidentally makes a contract with a spirit instead of her. Kamito is now something that was thought impossible – a male spirit elementalist.

Madan no O to Vanadis centres around a boy called Tinguru, a minor noble in the kingdom of Buryunu, who encounters one of the seven ruling Vanadis on the battlefield. The Vanadis are powerful female warriors who wield weapons given to them by dragons. Tinguru is faced by the silver-haired, red-eyed “silver fraulein” Eren; she defeats him, but instead of killing him she takes him as her prisoner.

No Game, No Life follows Sora and Shiro, a brother and sister whose reputations as brilliant NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) hikikomori (shut-in) gamers have spawned urban legends all over the Internet. They consider the real world as just another “crappy game.” However, they are summoned by a boy named God to an alternate world – one where “everything is decided by games”, even national borders. Humanity has been driven back into one remaining city by the other races, and it’s up to Sora and Shiro to save humanity in this alternative universe.
