Psycho-Pass Anime Gets Second Series

Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, President & CEO of Production I.G, has announced that a second series of Psycho-Pass is currently in production, with script development already underway. A screening event has also been announced, and will take place in select theatres in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo on 6 September; the event will show the entire 22-episode series, and will include an “important project announcement.”

The sci-fi anime series was originally released in Japan last October. Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and announced that it would be releasing the series on Blu-ray and DVD in spring 2014.

New Attack on Titan Trailer Released

The anime production company Pony Canyon has released a new trailer for the Attack on Titan anime. The series is set to premiere on 6 April.

The original, award-winning manga (written by Hajime Isayama) is set in a world where giants named Titans roam the world outside of walled enclaves that humans live in; the Titans are devoid of humanity and seek only to devour humans. In the anime, Yuuki Kaji voices Eren, a boy who dreams of the world outside the walls and enlists in the training corps to fight the Titans; Yui Ishikawa plays Mikasa, a girl who was rescued by Eren when they were younger; and Marina Inoue plays Armin, a friend of Eren and Mikasa, who teaches Eren of the outside world.

Tetsuro Araki (Death NoteHighschool of the DeadGuilty Crown) is directing the series at Wit Studio (in cooperation with Production I.G), Yasuko Kobayashi (Shakugan no ShanaClaymoreJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) is the head writer and Kyoji Asano (Psycho-PassTokyo Marble Chocolate) is the character designer.

Ghost In A Shell Promotional Event Will Be Available in English

Bandai Visual has announced that they will be simultaneously streaming the launch event of Ghost in the Shell Arise worldwide. The company confirmed that English interpreters will be present at the event, so English audio will be available. The event will take place at 9 p.m. on 12 February in Tokyo, so that’s 12 p.m. on 11 February (UK) and 4 a.m. (US).

The 60-minute launch event for the newest series in the Ghost in the Shell anime franchise will include announcements, a showing of the opening animation, and a promotional video. Some of the upcoming series’ staff will be present, including chief director and character designer Kazuchika Kise, series composition and scriptwriter Tow Ubukata, and Production I.G co-founder Mitsuhisa Ishikawa.

To promote the event, Bandai Visual are currently offering free, English-subbed episodes of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex on its YouTube Channel until 20 February. Due to licensing issues, however, these episodes are not available in the US, UK and several other countries; no countries will be blocked from viewing the launch event, though.

Ghost In The Shell Arise Anime Slated for 2013

The February issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Young Magazine is announcing that the new Ghost in the Shell Arise anime will be released in 2013. Kazuchika Kise (key animator on Ghost in the Shell films) will be the chief director of the series, with Tow Ubukata (Mardock Scramble) as the series scriptwriter and Cornelius (Appleseed: Ex Machina) as the composer.

Kenji Kamiyama, the director of previous Ghost in the Shell series and films, has announced that he will not be involved in the new project.

Production I.G has launched an official website for the anime and released a full image of the main character Motoko Kusanagi.

 

First Preview of Attack on Titan Anime Adaptation

An initial preview of the anime adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan award-winning manga has been released. The anime is set to be released in spring 2013.

Tetsuro Araki (Death Note, Highschool of the Dead, Guilty Crown) is directing the series at Wit Studio (in cooperation with Production I.G), Yasuko Kobayashi (Shakugan no Shana, Claymore, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) is the head writer and Kyoji Asano (Psycho-Pass, Tokyo Marble Chocolate) is the character designer.

Robotic;Notes Anime Episode 1 Preview

The website for the sci-fi anime Robotic;Notes has released a preview of the first episode, which will be released in Japan on 11 October.

The anime is based on the PS3 and Xbox 360 game developed by 5pb. The science adventure game TV adaptation is set in an alternate future after Tokyo’s Shibuya district was destroyed in 2009. It is now 2019, the world is immersed in augmented reality technology, and the Central Tanegashima High School’s robotic club only has two members left, club president Akiho Senomiya and Kaito Yashio, and is on the verge of being disbanded. Their only chance to keep their club is to win the hobby robot competition in Tokyo.

Akiho Senomiya and Kaito Yashio will be voiced by Yoshino Nanjou and Ryohei Kimura respectively. The series will be directed by Kazuya Nomura (Sengoku Basara 2) at Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell).
