A New Preview of Sasami-san@Ganbaranai Anime Released

A new promotional video for the romantic comedy anime series Sasami-san@Ganbaranai has been released. The video features the opening theme song “Alteration” by ZAQ. The anime will premeire in Japan today and will begin streaming on The Anime Network on 18 January.

The story follows a hikikomori (shut-in) named Sasami Tsukuyomi (voiced by Kana Asumi) who has been attempting to pass her first year of high school despite being unmotivated to change her clothes, let alone leave her house. Her older brother Kamiomi (Houchu Ohtsuka) is a teacher at the school she is supposed to attend, so she uses his as a “Brother Surveillance Tool” to view the outside world via her computer. Her “Brother Surveillance Tool” doesn’t seem to do much to help her academically, but it gives her a close up view of her brother’s relationship with the three beautiful Yagami sisters.

Akiyuki Shinbo (Madoka Magica) will be directing the series at SHAFT animation studio (Bakemonogatari). Katsuhiko Takayama (Love, Election & Chocolate) is the series scriptwriter and Hiroki Harada (Romeo × Juliet) is the character designer. The anime is based on Akira’s light novel series.

First Haganai Next Anime Commercial Released

The first commercial for the anticipated second series of Haganai (Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai), Haganai Next, has been released. The series will air in Japan on 10 January 2013.

The first series’ assistant director Toru Kitahata (Love, Election & Chocolate) is taking over as the director from Hisashi Saito (Bamboo Blade, Heaven’s Lost Property). Unlike the first series, the original light novel writer Yomi Hirasaka will be in charge of the series scripts, alongside Tatsuhiko Urahata (Strike Witches) from the first series. Kurasumi Sunayama (Romeo X Juliet) is also joining the writing staff. The main cast will be reprising their roles from the first series.

New Zettai Karen Children Anime Set for 2013 Release

Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine has revealed that the new Zettia Karen Children anime, Courtesy of Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited – Hyobu Kyosuke. This spin-off, based on the previous anime series and Takashi Shiina’s original Zettai Karen Children manga, will centre around Kyosuke Hyobu; the leader of P.A.N.D.R.A, Hyobu wants people with ESP powers like himself to wipe out the “Normals”. Koji Yusa is reprising his role of Hyōbu, and Junichi Suwabe will voice Andy Hinomiya. The series will premiere in Japan in 2013.

The new anime will be directed by Shishō Igarashi (Deadman Wonderland, Armored Trooper Votoms Case;Irvine) at Manglobe anime studios, and Shinichi Inotsume (first Zettai Karen Children, Hayate the Combat Butler) will provide the series’ scripts. In the animation department,  Jun Takagi (Romeo × Juliet, Submarine 707R) will be the character designer and chief animation director, and Kenji Teraoka (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) is the mechanical designer. The soundtrack for the series will be provided by Kotaro Nakagawa (first Zettai Karen Children, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Hayate the Combat Butler).

The original anime series was released by Sentai Filmworks in North America as Psychic Squad.
