Nogami Takeshi is best known for his Strike Witches doujinshi and artwork contributions, as well as his open letter to CNN about its coverage on Hentai games, but he is also responsible for the web manga Marine Corps Yumi, which launched last autumn.
The series is now being translated into English, and follows a girl called Yumi Nagumo, who dreams of becoming a soldier in the “Amerigo” Marines. New chapters will go online every Tuesday, with the next instalment coming on the 28 May.
The English translation can be accessed here, or you can read the manga in its original Japanese form here.
The first commercial for the anticipated second series of Haganai (Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai), Haganai Next, has been released. The series will air in Japan on 10 January 2013.
The first series’ assistant director Toru Kitahata (Love, Election & Chocolate) is taking over as the director from Hisashi Saito (Bamboo Blade, Heaven’s Lost Property). Unlike the first series, the original light novel writer Yomi Hirasaka will be in charge of the series scripts, alongside Tatsuhiko Urahata (Strike Witches) from the first series. Kurasumi Sunayama (Romeo X Juliet) is also joining the writing staff. The main cast will be reprising their roles from the first series.
The official website of the upcoming original anime project, Vividred Operation, has released the first promotional video of the girl science-fiction action series.
The anime follows a 14-year-old girl, Akane Isshiki, who lives with her little sister and grandfather; along with other 14-year-old girls, she fights to protect Earth and all that is precious to her.
Kazuhiro Takamura (Strike Witches) will be directing and providing the character design for the series, and Hiroyuki Yoshino (Macross Frontier, Guilty Crown) will be responsible for the scripts of the A-1 Pictures production.
